This statement covers kirksantonvillagehall.co.uk. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 AA and improve the site within the funds available.

Last updated: 4 October 2025

Status

Partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA.

What works well

  • Each page uses a single H1. Headings follow a clear H1 → H2 → H3 order.
  • Pages resize and reflow on phones and tablets.
  • Navigation is consistent across pages.
  • Images, including galleries, have meaningful alternative text or are marked decorative.
  • Legal pages (Privacy, Terms, Accessibility) use clear headings and plain language.

Known issues

  • Link text: Some event links repeat similar copy. We will add context (for example, date/title) so each link makes sense out of context.
  • Forms: We will tighten programmatic labels, required states, and inline error messages so screen readers announce them correctly.
  • Booking calendar: The timetable grid needs stronger table/grid semantics, clear headers, and reliable keyboard focus behaviour.
  • Cookie banner: Duplicate visible labels make the dialog noisy. We will simplify wording and ensure distinct control names.
  • Target size on mobile (2.5.8): Some tap targets may be under 24×24 CSS px. We will increase hit areas or spacing.
  • Legacy PDFs: Older PDFs are not fully accessible. We will replace with HTML pages or tagged PDFs.

What we are doing next

  • Quick fixes (0–4 weeks): improve link text and cookie banner wording.
  • Medium fixes (1–3 months): form labels and error association; keyboard focus order/visibility; calendar semantics.
  • Ongoing: checks during updates; re-test against WCAG 2.2 AA twice a year.

Costs and proportionality

We are a volunteer-run hall with limited funds. We prioritise high-impact, low-cost changes first, then schedule larger items as budget allows.

  • Link text and cookie banner copy: £0–£300.
  • Forms (labels, errors, focus, validation): £300–£800.
  • Booking calendar accessibility: £400–£1,200 (depends on widget options).
  • Replace or remediate key PDFs: £100–£300 per long document (often cheaper to convert to HTML).

Content outside our control

Some embedded third-party services may have limitations. We will seek accessible options or provide an alternative route to the same information.
